4 killed as Asian University bus hits auto-rickshaw on Mirpur embankment

Four people were killed when a bus of Asian University crushed a battery-powered auto-rickshaw on Mirpur embankment (beribandh) road in the capital. Among the dead, two were men and two women.
The incident took place at Nawaberbagh Uttarpara area around 7:45 am on Wednesday (November 4). The identities of the deceased were not immediately known.
Talha Bin Jasim, media officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the matter. He said that upon receiving the news, a unit of Kalyanpur Fire Station reached the spot. Fire Service personnel conducted the rescue operation there.
Fire Service further said that the bus belonged to Asian University.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to Sub-Inspector (SI) Ariful Islam of Shah Ali Police Station, the Fire Service said. Later, the bodies were kept at the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
