Several crude bombs exploded on Tuesday morning in front of the residence of the District and Sessions Judge in Madaripur town.
Madaripur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter. Following the incident, members of law enforcement agencies inspected the scene, and police launched an investigation to identify the individuals involved in the explosions.
Meanwhile, a rally of the National Citizen Party (NCP) is scheduled to take place at 4 pm on Tuesday, at the Muktamoncho located in front of the judge’s residence. Leaders of the party, including Convener Nahid Islam, Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam, and Hasnat Abdullah, are expected to attend the event.
Madaripur District NCP Organizational Secretary Hasibullah said miscreants hurled the crude bombs in an attempt to foil their rally and they wish to hold the rally peacefully and demanded that the administration conduct an investigation to bring the individuals involved to justice.
OC Azad added that the incident might have taken place due to internal disputes regarding committee formation within the party. The explosions might also have been carried out to instill fear in connection with the rally and the cause of the incident will be confirmed once the investigation is completed.
