The district administration has withdrawn its earlier announcement to temporarily close the Sajek tourist spot in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati and opened all tourist centers for the visitors.
This information was provided in an urgent public notice signed by Deputy Commissioner Nazma Ashrafi on Thursday (October 15). The Sajek Mass Rights Protection Committee and the Sajek Karbari Association also announced the withdrawal of their blockade program on Thursday from along the Sajek road.
The district administration's public notice said that by changing the instructions of the urgent public notice issued on October 11, all tourist centers in Sajek are being opened for tourists to travel.
Earlier, following the announcement of a blockade program on the Sajek road, the district administration had announced the temporary closure of the Sajek tourist center considering the safety of tourists. Later, on Thursday, the tourist centers were opened through a fresh public notice.
Meanwhile, the Sajek Mass Rights Protection Committee and the Sajek Karbari Association had announced that they would again observe a blockade program on the Sajek road from October 15, alleging that the administration's promise to fulfill three demands, including the removal of armed JSS members, had not been implemented. However, respecting the Sharadiya Durga Puja, the two organizations announced that the blockade program would remain suspended from October 16 to October 21.
On Thursday, the district administration announced the opening of all tourist centers in Sajek. On the same day, with the announcement of the withdrawal of the blockade, the path has been cleared for tourism activities in Sajek to return to normal.
