Lightning Strike on Train Roof Kills Passenger in Ghorashal

A passenger named Sajib Sarkar was killed after lightning struck the roof of the Upakul Express train.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon while the Upakul Express was passing through Ghorashal.
The deceased, Sajib, was the son of Samsul Haque Sarkar of Fuldi village under Palashtali Union in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi.
Police and eyewitnesses said Sajib was travelling on the roof of the Upakul Express train that departed from Dhaka. Around 4:30 pm, as the train reached the Ghorashal railway station area amid heavy rainfall, lightning suddenly struck. When the train arrived at Narsingdi railway station, Railway Outpost police recovered his body from the roof of the train.
Inspector Md. Nazim Uddin of the Narsingdi Railway Outpost Police said they went to the spot after receiving information from the station master and the national emergency service 999. He confirmed that the man died due to a lightning strike. He added that legal procedures are underway regarding the incident.
