The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will establish four new police stations and six police outposts in the capital, said DMP Acting Commissioner Md. Sarwar. He made the announcement on Friday afternoon while attending the inauguration ceremony of a new building for the Khilkhet police outpost at the 300 Feet area in the capital.
To expand service coverage, the DMP area will be reorganized and new police stations will be formed, the commissioner said. He said that the proposal for a Rayar Bazar police station is currently under consideration at the ministry.
He further said that a new police station will be established combining parts of Mohammapur, Adabor, and Hazaribagh. Another new station is also proposed for Khilgaon. In addition, parts of Vatara, Badda, and Khilkhet will be included under the proposed Bashundhara police station jurisdiction.
He added that if the Purbachal area comes under Dhaka North City Corporation, a separate proposal has been made to establish four police stations and six outposts there.
On the same day, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir inaugurated the new building of the Khilkhet police outpost. Speaking to journalists there, he said the current government is highly supportive and sympathetic toward the police force. He added that the government is providing all necessary assistance to improve law and order in line with public expectations.
