An elderly man named Khalilullah (65) died from bee stings in Roumari on Saturday. Another person, Marjina Khatun, was seriously injured in the incident.

The incident occurred on Saturday (November 1) in the village of New Shoulmari in Shoulmari Union of Roumari Upazila.

Relatives of the deceased said that in the morning, Khalilullah, son of Jamatullah was weeding in an eggplant field next to his house. At that time, a hawk attacked a beehive in a nearby tree, and the swarm of bees became agitated and attacked Khalilullah and Marjina Khatun, who was in the neighboring house. Both were seriously injured.

Hearing their screams, locals rushed to the scene and rescued them and took them to the Roumari Upazila Health Complex. When Khalilullah's physical condition deteriorated there, he was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. He died on the way.

Dr. Nabiul Islam, the doctor on duty at the Roumari Upazila Health Complex, said that the venom from bee stings can cause an anaphylactic reaction (a severe allergic reaction). Such a reaction can cause a patient's death. Seeing one person's condition deteriorate, we referred him to Mymensingh Medical College for advanced treatment.
