Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country has been temporarily suspended after a wagon of an oil-carrying train derailed in the Lawachara National Park area of Kamalganj upazila in Moulvibazar.
The incident occurred around 3:30 pm on Friday inside the Lawachara forest, midway between Bhanugachh and Sreemangal railway stations.
Shamshernagar Station Master Rajat Kumar Roy confirmed the incident.
He said an empty wagon of an oil-carrying train travelling from Sylhet to Akhaura suddenly derailed, bringing train movement on the route to a halt and causing inconvenience to passengers.
He added that a hydraulic tool van is being brought in to recover the derailed wagon. Train services will resume once the recovery operation is completed.
