Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman said no one is above the law. If anyone acts contrary to the directives of the prime minister, PM will take the right decision, adding that the PM has already proven this.
Asaduzzaman made these remarks on Monday at the Jhenaidah District Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (PTI) regarding the weapon display at an anti-drug drive by State Minister of Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain.
Regarding the participation of teachers and other employees of MPO-enlisted educational institutions in local government elections, the minister added that there is no legal bar against them running as candidates in elections. No alternative arrangement has been made in this regard either. They will be able to participate in elections until a solution is reached through the legal process, as the existing law remains in force.
Asaduzzaman noted that a positive change can be expected in the elections, and proof of this will be seen through the activities of the government.
Addressing recent statements by leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami alleging irregularities in the appointment of fertilizer dealers, he said that if an opposition party is to engage in politics, it must bring some issue to the forefront. They are criticizing various matters merely for the sake of opposition, and these are their statements, which the government does not believe. All legal procedures were followed in appointing fertilizer dealers.
Earlier in the morning, Asaduzzaman attended a meeting of the management committee at the Jhenaidah 250-Bed General Hospital. The meeting featured discussions regarding the improvement of the quality of medical services and overall hospital management.
