Man killed by cousin in Rajshahi land dispute

A man was killed after being beaten by his cousin following a dispute over land on Sunday in Lalitahar Kamalpur, Rajshahi.

Chandrima Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam confirmed the death but said the cause of the victim’s death cannot be confirmed without an autopsy report. The victim has been identified as Md Zia, 35.

Zia’s family members added that a fight broke out between Zia and his cousin Md Minarul, 36, over a land dispute. At one point, Zia fell unconscious. He was rushed to a private hospital in the Nawdapara area, where the doctor declared him dead.

Following Zia’s death, his other brothers attacked and beat Minarul, leaving him injured. Minarul has since been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

OC Monirul said the body is kept in the hospital morgue, and an autopsy will be conducted on Monday. Police are investigating the incident. If the family files a case, legal action will be taken.
