Two Bangladeshi nationals have been detained by India's Border Security Force (BSF) inside Indian territory along the Haripur border in Thakurgaon. The incident occurred on Friday night in an area adjacent to the Kakromoni BSF camp, opposite the Haripur BOP (Border Outpost).

The two detained individuals are Md. Alimul Islam (45), son of Subahan Ali from the Dangipara village in Haripur upazila, and Md. Karim (35), son of Kurban Ali from the Kadirsukha village.

According to BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) sources, they were detained by the BSF inside Indian territory while returning to Bangladesh from India. Following the incident, the BGB has initiated communication with the BSF regarding the matter.

The commander of the Thakurgaon 50 BGB Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Tanjir Ahmed, said, "We have received information that the BSF has detained two Bangladeshi citizens. Communication with the BSF regarding this matter is ongoing. Efforts are being made to bring them back to the country by following the necessary procedures."

He further said that residents of border areas are regularly being made aware not to cross the border without valid documents.
