Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman said everyone must work on behalf of whoever BNP nominates in the Union Parishad (UP) elections and anyone who creates obstacles by going outside the party’s decision will be expelled from the party.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a meeting with party leaders and activists at the Shailkupa Upazila BNP party office in Jhenaidah at 10 am on Tuesday.

Asaduzzaman added that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will provide directives regarding the local government elections. Leaders and activists must work accordingly. If anyone goes outside this, authorities will expel them from the party. Tarique will not forgive those who commit hypocrisy from within the party.

He noted that information on every union will remain stored in the Prime Minister’s computer system. In the local elections, BNP wants to nominate candidates who have a likelihood of winning. Even if someone is a big leader, if there is a risk of defeat, the party will not give him the nomination.

Asaduzzaman said, “If the party does not win, then what good is a big leader like me? Today, if BNP had not come to power, then no matter how big a leader I am, no matter how good a person I am, it would not have mattered at all.

“The party is the greatest trust to me. You nominated your preferred candidate, but if he does not win, that will not work. We are keeping an eye on everything. If I see that you are betraying the party or doing something alternative above the party, then I also have the right to catch you.”
