A fire broke out on the fourth floor of the Music, Dance and Recitation Building of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital. The incident occurred around 9:30 AM on Saturday. Upon receiving the news, the fire service quickly brought the blaze under control. No casualties have been reported.
Initially, it is believed that the fire started due to an electrical short circuit. However, several officials and employees of the academy have called for an investigation to determine the actual cause.
Regarding the matter, Mehjabeen Rahman, Director of the Music, Dance and Recitation Department at Shilpakala Academy, told Agameer Samay, "The fire was brought under control quickly after it broke out. As a result, no casualties occurred."
Previously, a fire had also broken out at the National Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy. Some have alleged that no investigation was conducted into that incident. Following this new incident, questions have once again been raised about the academy's safety measures and electrical infrastructure.
