Animal workers rescued a four-foot-long Ornate Flying Snake from an air conditioning unit at Barisal Medical Services Clinic in Sagardi, leaving city residents on edge.
The clinic’s owner and former Principal of Patuakhali Medical College SM Abul Hasan said that technicians discovered the snake while dismantling the unit to move it to his residence. The sighting of the serpent inside the machine immediately triggered panic across the facility.
Following a call to the 999 national emergency service, the clinic contacted Asadullah Hasan Musa, the director of Animal Lovers of Patuakhali. Musa arrived at the scene and captured the snake after two-hours.
Musa said that the snake likely entered the unit through external pipes or gaps in the wall from nearby bushes. While the clinic authorities claimed to have seen two snakes, the rescue team only located one.
He added that the captured snake is an adult but is not harmful to humans. The team later handed the snake over to the Forest Department.
This incident follows a similar discovery on 7 and 8 June, when rescuers recovered four snakes from the Barisal Range DIG’s office.
