The mother of the abused child has described what happened to her daughter that day at the madrasa in Tongi, Gazipur.

The child's father, Shahjalal Rumi, had joined a podcast program. At that time, at the request of the viewers he called his wife and asked her to describe the incident, live.

The mother recounted what had happened to the child at the madrasa that day, or what the girl had told her mother after returning home.

Speaking on the phone, the child's mother said, "On Monday the 19th, I sent my daughter to the madrasa at 8 in the morning. Their class runs until 10:30. From 10:30 to 12, there is a special Arabic class, which that teacher takes. After the class was dismissed, when my daughter came home, I noticed she was feeling down. She seemed a bit tearful and a little frightened. I asked her, 'Why are you so scared, sweetheart? What happened? Tell me openly.' She didn't want to tell me."

She said, "I told her again, 'Tell me a little.' Then she said, 'The teacher touched me badly.'"

"I said, 'Where did this happen?' Then she said, 'On the stairs.'"

The child's mother said, "The teacher told her, 'Look, if you go home and say this, no one will believe you, because there are no CCTV cameras installed on the stairs. If you tell your guardians, I will kill you. You cannot tell anyone about this.'"

The child's mother said, "After learning about this from my daughter, I informed a madam at the madrasa. After I told her, she said to me, 'Look, this was the first time, let's give the teacher another chance.' As a mother, I could not be satisfied with what she said. Then I immediately called the vice principal. But he was not at the madrasa. He was reportedly on leave. I told him about the incident — that this had happened to my daughter, that the teacher had touched her badly. He said, 'We will install CCTV cameras on the stairs tomorrow, and a female teacher will be deployed at all times. When a male teacher takes a class, a female teacher will also be present alongside.' Reassured by his words, I sent my daughter to the madrasa on the 20th. After sending her, that teacher took the class that day as well and told my daughter, 'I like you. What is your home number?' — meaning, he asked my daughter and found out our home number."

"Right after my daughter came home, that teacher showed up at our house. At that time, I was alone at home with my children. There was no man in the house. He came in front of my house and kept knocking on the door again and again. He was saying, 'Open your door, I have something to talk to you about.'"

"I only said, 'I cannot talk to you. The child's father will talk to you.' Right after that, I told the child's father about the incident. They have all wronged my child, and now they are denying it."

"I want justice for the wrong doing to my little girl," said the child's mother.
