Former councilor hacked to death in Kishoreganj

Miscreants hacked to death Al-Amin Saikat, a former councilor of Bhairab Municipality in Kishoreganj and a municipal Jubo League leader on Monday.

Bhairab Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the incident. Saikat served as the councilor of ward number 1 and the general secretary of the municipal Jubo League.

Police said miscreants attacked Saikat in front of the Gopal Jiur Temple around 12:30 am, hacking him with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene. Locals rushed him to the Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, they sent him to Dhaka, but Saikat died on the way.

OC Mahbubur said police visited the spot and legal action will be taken based on a written complaint.
