RAB has arrested Aman Ullah Sagar, a madrasa teacher accused of raping an 11-year-old student and causing her to become pregnant in Netrokona's Madan upazila.
A team from RAB-14 apprehended him on Tuesday night from the Gauripur area of Mymensingh.
A press conference will be held in Mymensingh on Wednesday afternoon, after which the suspect will be handed over to the Netrokona police.
The arrested teacher is the director of Hazrat Fatema Tuz-Zuhura Mohila Qawmi Madrasa in Madan. He is a resident of Panchhar Borobari village in the Kaitail union of the upazila.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madan Police Station, Md. Tarikul Islam, confirmed these details to Agamir Somoy.
Last Thursday evening, the victim's mother filed a case against Aman Ullah Sagar at Madan Police Station.
According to the case statement, Aman Ullah established the women's Qawmi madrasa four years ago. The girl lived at her maternal grandfather's house and studied there. Following her parents' divorce, her mother has been working as a domestic helper in Sylhet.
Recently, the child began feeling unwell, and physical changes were observed. Her mother returned from Sylhet and questioned her daughter to learn about the incident.
On April 18, the child was taken to a clinic in Madan upazila town. After various medical tests, the doctor confirmed that she was pregnant. Subsequently, the mother filed the case on Thursday. Law enforcement agencies had been conducting operations to arrest the teacher since the case was filed.
Meanwhile, a video of the teacher was circulated on social media from an unknown location on Tuesday, in which he claimed to be innocent.
