Rabindranath Tagore’s graffiti defaced, man detained

Man being detained for defacing a graffiti of famous Bengali poet, writer Rabindranath Tagore, on Saturday. Agamir Somoy.
A N M Ayash, member-secretary of the Rashtriya Dialogue Forum, was detained by police on Saturday while attempting to deface a graffiti of Rabindranath Tagore in the capital’s Segunbagicha area.
He was detained around noon on October 10.
Ayash, along with several young men and women, began smearing black ink over a roadside graffiti of Tagore in Segunbagicha. Police arrived at the scene and intervened, triggering a heated exchange between Ayash and members of his group and the officers.
Police subsequently took Ayash and several members of his group away in a police van.
