Jamaat expels ward leader over discipline breach in Jashore

Jamaat-e-Islami permanently expelled Md Rafiqul Islam Bhuiyan from the party over allegations of involvement in activities contrary to party discipline in Abhaynagar, Jashore.

Abhaynagar Upazila Jamaat unanimously took the decision during its monthly meeting on Wednesday. Rafiqul previously served as a leader of ward number 5 Jamaat under Noapara Municipality.

A press release signed by SM Mahidul Islam, secretary of Abhaynagar Upazila Jamaat, confirmed the expulsion.

Party sources said allegations persisted against Rafiqul regarding his long-term involvement in activities violating party discipline. Although leaders verbally warned him, he ignored the warnings. Later, when leaders presented the issue, they decided to permanently expel him.

Rafiqul expressed ignorance regarding the grounds for his expulsion. When asked about the matter, he said, “I have heard that I have been expelled from the party. But I do not know for what reason I was expelled.”
