Injured Wild Elephant Seeks Treatment at Coast Guard Office

An injured wild female elephant entered the Teknaf Coast Guard office after suffering injuries to its head and leg. After receiving reports of the incident, Forest Department personnel took steps to treat the animal and ensure its safe return to the forest. Following initial treatment, the elephant returned to the nearby hills on Saturday night.
The elephant came down from the hills in the Kerantali area of Teknaf Sadar Union at around 5 pm on Saturday, and entered the locality.
Local resident Abdu Shukkur said a large female elephant descended from the hills in the afternoon and later entered the Coast Guard office after moving through the residential area.
He said the elephant showed visible injuries on its head and leg. Residents believe the injured animal entered the locality in search of food or shelter.
Nazir Ahmed, a member of Ward No. 9 of Teknaf Sadar Union Parishad, said authorities had taken steps to restore the elephant’s health and return it safely to the forest.
Teknaf Forest Department Range Officer Abdur Rashid said the elephant returned to its natural habitat on Saturday night after receiving initial treatment and food.
