The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified surveillance along the Hili border to prevent the illegal entry of cattle from India. In addition to taking extra precautionary measures across the border area, patrol activities have also been increased.
Lieutenant Colonel Latiful Bari, commanding officer of Joypurhat-20 BGB, confirmed the matter on Wednesday morning.
He stated that there is no scope for cattle smuggling from India through Hili or its adjacent border areas. BGB members are maintaining a state of maximum alert in the border regions. Keeping in mind the ongoing unstable situation in India, additional security measures have been deployed along the border.
Lieutenant Colonel Latiful Bari further mentioned that local residents are being alerted via loudspeakers in the border areas. The BGB remains constantly vigilant to thwart any kind of illegal infiltration or smuggling.
According to him, the BGB has always played a responsible role in protecting the border and the force stands ready to deal with any situation.
