Miscreants shot and injured a business leader at Panna Chattar in Rajbari city on Tuesday.
Rajbari Superintendent of Police Mir Monir Hossain confirmed the matter. The man has been identified as Amir Hossain Liton. Liton is the general secretary of the Banibaha Bazar Businessmen’s Association.
Liton said after appearing in a case at Rajbari Court, he was heading toward the town’s Kapar Bazar in a rickshaw with his companion Hasu. When they crossed Panna Chattar and reached in front of Poura U Market, an autorickshaw coming from behind blocked their rickshaw’s path.
He added that at that time, three shots were fired at him. Among them, one bullet hit his right hand. The other two missed their target.
Hasu noted that one bullet grazed his stomach. However, he was not injured. Liton was initially taken to Rajbari Sadar Hospital.
Jannatul Ferdous, doctor of the emergency department at Rajbari Sadar Hospital, said an X-ray examination showed the bullet stuck inside the flesh of Liton’s hand. Later, he was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Monir added that police teams are working to arrest the miscreants.
