Former Chattogram-3 MP Mahfuzur Rahman arrested

Former Member of Parliament from Chattogram-3 (Sandwip) constituency Mahfuzur Rahman Mita has been arrested by the Gulshan Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB).
He was arrested from the Gulshan 2 area of the capital at around 1:30 am on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the DB Gulshan Division A F M Anwar Hossain Khan confirmed the arrest on Tuesday.
He said a raid was conducted at House 29 on Road 43 in the Gulshan 2 area on Monday night based on secret information.
“During the raid, former Member of Parliament from the Chattogram-3 (Sandwip) constituency Mahfuzur Rahman Mita of the banned Awami League was arrested,” said DB’s Anwar Hossain.
Police officials concerned said arrested Mahfuzur Rahman Mita is an accused named in the First Information Reports (FIRs) of several cases filed with Sandwip Police Station in Chattogram.
After his arrest, he was taken to the DB office on Minto Road. Further legal action against him is under process.
