114,706 applications for rechecking submitted, highest for English and Mathematics

A total of 114,706 applications have been submitted for rechecking answer scripts under the Chattogram Education Board this year. The highest number of applications were submitted for English and Mathematics. Together, these two subjects accounted for nearly 30 percent of all rechecking applications.
A total of 39,798 SSC candidates under the Chattogram Education Board applied for rechecking their answer scripts. As many as 61,659 students failed English and Mathematics. This accounts for 47 percent of the total students. A total of 34,228 applications were submitted for rechecking these two subjects. This represents about 55.53 percent of the students who failed in the subjects. Of these, 20,400 applications were submitted for English and 13,828 for Mathematics.
An analysis of the results shows that 129,366 students took the English First and Second Papers combined. Of them, 35,876 failed, accounting for 27.74 percent of the candidates who took the subject. In other words, nearly one in every four students who took the English examination failed. A total of 93,490 students passed.
A total of 129,235 students took the Mathematics examination. Of them, 103,452 passed and 25,783 failed. The failure rate in the subject was 19.95 percent. This means nearly one in every five students failed Mathematics.
Besides English and Mathematics, 7,771 applications were submitted for rechecking Bangla answer scripts, 6,823 for Physics, 4,559 for Biology, 4,535 for Chemistry and 4,440 for Higher Mathematics.
Chattogram Education Board Controller of Examinations Professor Parvez Sazzad Chowdhury said, “Changes have been made to the answer script evaluation system. This time there will also be an opportunity to check whether there were any errors in the evaluation of answer scripts. Sufficient examiners have also been appointed for this.”
The SSC and equivalent examination results were published across the country on August 10. Applications for rechecking were accepted online from August 11 to 17 after the results were published.
Students from Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachhari took part in the SSC examination under the Chattogram Education Board. A total of 130,682 candidates took part in the examination this year. Of them, 130,219 were present at the examinations. A total of 77,453 students passed and 52,766 failed.
