Madrasa principal arrested for raping student in Lakshmipur

Police arrested the principal of a madrasa on charges of raping a 12-year-old student in Chandrogonj, Lakshmipur.
Chandrogonj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rob confirmed the matter on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Maulana Md Abdul Ahad, 45, principal of Popular Ideal Hifz Madrasa.
OC Rob said the principal summoned the student of the Hifz department to his room on Saturday, where the assault occurred. The following afternoon, the boy escaped and informed his family about the incident.
After news of the incident spread, guardians and locals went to the madrasa and caught the accused. Later, police arrived and arrested the principal.
The child’s family has filed a case at the police station, and legal proceedings are underway.
