Banshkhali awaits PM

Residents of Chattogram’s Banshkhali are waiting for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. People have been arriving in groups at the venue of the prime minister’s program since morning.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will attend a rehabilitation assistance program for people affected by floods at the West Banshkhali High School and College field in Baharchhara Union of Banshkhali at 12:30 pm today, Sunday. This is Tarique Rahman’s first visit to Chattogram since forming the government.
Braving the scorching sun, people are gathering at the sea beach in Baharchhara, Banshkhali. People are arriving on foot and by vehicles to catch a glimpse of the prime minister. A stage has been prepared at the sea beach for the prime minister’s program.
Earlier, the prime minister arrived at Matarbari in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar by helicopter from Dhaka’s Tejgaon Airport at 10:52 am on Sunday. His schedule in Matarbari includes visits to the deep sea port, coal fired power project and activities of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority, or MIDA.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Mia said the prime minister will arrive in Banshkhali by helicopter after completing his program in Maheshkhali. At 2 pm, he will arrive by helicopter in Fatikchhari upazila. There, he will meet Hefazat e Islam Amir Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari at Al Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Ulum Babunagor Madrasa.
After that, he will travel by road and take a break at the Hathazari Dak Bungalow at 3:45 pm. At 5 pm, he will attend a rehabilitation assistance program for people affected by floods at the Hathazari Government College field. From there, he will travel by road to the city and attend an organizational meeting at the auditorium of Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View Hotel at 7:15 pm.
The prime minister is scheduled to leave Chattogram for Dhaka by air from Shah Amanat International Airport at 9:30 pm.
