Three police officers have been withdrawn from Satkania Police Station on charges of embezzling 30,000 Yaba pills seized after searching a truck in Chattogram.

Satkania Police Station OC Mohammad Abdul Alim confirmed the matter and said an order in this regard was issued from the Chattogram District Superintendent of Police Office on Wednesday.

The withdrawn police officers are SI Mahbubul Islam, Constable Fayez Ahmed, and Gazi Mohammad Mohsin.

Earlier around 8:30 pm on 24 October, the three police officers stopped the truck by setting up a road barricade in the Putibila area of Lohagara Upazila. At that time, two alleged sources named Robin and Momen were also with them. Two constables got into the truck, sat next to the driver, and took control of it. SI Mahbubul Islam on a motorcycle and the two sources in a microbus kept following them.

The truck was driven through various roads and taken to the Keranihat Rail Crossing area of Satkania Upazila. There, the driver was told to get off, and the truck was searched. 30,000 Yaba pills kept in three bundles under the driver’s seat of the truck were seized, and the truck was released.

Allegations have been raised that later, without showing those Yaba pills as seized, they embezzled them.

OC Abdul Alim told Agamir Somoy, “The allegation of embezzling Yaba is being investigated. In the interest of the investigation, they have been withdrawn from the police station.”
