Prime minister in Banshkhali

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived in Banshkhali, Chattogram, for the first time since forming the government. He went there to attend an event organized to hand over houses, provide financial assistance and distribute relief supplies for the rehabilitation of families affected by the recent floods.
The prime minister arrived at the event venue at Baharchhara sea beach in Banshkhali upazila by helicopter at around 1:50 pm on Sunday. The event was organized by the district administration and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. Since morning, a large crowd of local residents and people from different areas had gathered at the venue. Relief supplies packed in sacks and financial assistance were also seen being brought there.
Earlier in the morning, the prime minister arrived in Cox’s Bazar by helicopter. There, he inspected the overall development activities of the Matarbari deep sea port, coal fired power project and Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority. After completing the inspection, he left Cox’s Bazar directly for Banshkhali.
According to sources at the Prime Minister’s Office, after completing his Banshkhali program, he is scheduled to visit Al Jamiaatul Islamia Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari at 2 pm. There, he will meet Hefazat e Islam Amir Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari. He will then visit Al Jamiaatul Ahlia Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari at 3:15 pm to pay respects at the grave of Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi.
As part of his daylong tour, the prime minister will make a brief stop at the Hathazari Dak Bungalow at 3:45 pm. He will then attend another event related to the rehabilitation of flood affected people as the chief guest at the Hathazari Government College field at 5 pm.
At 7:15 pm, he is scheduled to attend a local organizational meeting at the Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View auditorium in the city. At the end of his tour, the prime minister is scheduled to return to Dhaka by helicopter from Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport at 9:30 pm tonight.
