A police officer who was injured after being hit by a bus while chasing three young men suspected of robbery in Chattogram, has died.
He died Monday morning at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Aminur Rashid, assistant commissioner (media) of CMP, told Agamir Somoy that a team from Kotwali Police Station was on duty at a checkpoint near Ispahani intersection on Sunday morning. The officers noticed three young men behaving suspiciously and signaled them to stop.
When one of the men tried to flee, Al Amin pursued him on a motorcycle. He was seriously injured after being struck by a speeding minibus and falling onto the road.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zahedul Kabir said, “The checkpoint was under the charge of Assistant Sub-Inspector Hiron Mia. When the suspected robber fled, Hiron and Al Amin pursued him on two separate motorcycles from different directions in an attempt to intercept him. Near the west gate of Jamiatul Falah Mosque, a speeding bus struck Al Amin from behind. The moving bus dragged him for some distance.”
Following the incident, police and local residents detained the bus driver, Mohammad Mosharraf, and his assistant, Joy Das. A case has been filed against them under the Road Transport Act, the police officer said.
