The government will not collect excise duty on bank deposits up to Tk 4 lakh. Currently, the government collects excise duty annually on the maximum deposit or balance in a bank account. Banks typically deduct this duty once a year, particularly at the end of December. From the next fiscal year, excise duty on bank deposits up to Tk 4 lakh has been withdrawn.
