Trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended with a decline in indices on Tuesday, the third working day of the week. Most companies' share prices fell along with the indices. However, the value of transactions in taka increased somewhat.

With today's decline, the DSE's main price index has fallen to its level from five months ago. Earlier, on May 23 of this year, the DSEX index stood at 5,328 points. At the end of trading on Tuesday, the DSE Broad Index (DSEX) fell by 20 points from the previous day to stand at 5,284 points. The DSE Shariah Index fell by 7 points to stand at 1,030 points, and the DSE-30 Index fell by 20 points to stand at 2,021 points.

Market insiders say that labor protests and unrest in industrial areas have had an indirect impact on the country's stock market. Concerns and uncertainty among investors led to a major price decline in the stock market. Share prices of most companies fell. At the same time, selling pressure increased in the market, spreading panic among investors.

Labor unrest and protests have been ongoing for several days. Incidents of vandalism and arson have occurred. The unstable situation has spread a kind of panic among investors. As a result, many have increased selling pressure on shares. The increased selling pressure caused a major price decline in the market.

According to them, the stock market primarily depends on investors' confidence and expectations. If instability arises in any sector, its impact quickly spreads to the capital market. The risk of industrial production being disrupted, export activities being hampered, and business costs rising due to labor protests has pushed investors into a cautious position.
