Trading Volume Rises Despite Decline in Stock Index

Trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended lower on Tuesday, the third trading day of the week, with the majority of company share prices also falling. However, trading volume in monetary terms increased slightly.
At the end of the day, the DSE broad index fell 20 points from the previous session to 5,424 points. The DSE Shariah Index fell 4 points to 1,174 points, while the DSE-30 Index declined 4 points to 2,077 points. Of the 390 companies and mutual funds traded during the day, share prices rose for 79, fell for 270 and remained unchanged for 41.
Trading on the DSE totaled Tk 5.6417 billion, Tk 270.6 million more than in the previous trading session. The previous day’s trading volume was Tk 5.3711 billion.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange’s (CSE) all-share index, CASPI, fell 62 points to 14,557 points. A total of 175 institutions participated in trading on the CSE. Of them, share prices rose for 47, fell for 110 and remained unchanged for 18. Shares and units worth Tk 166.4 million were traded on the CSE.
Paramount Textile Limited topped the DSE trading volume list. Shares worth Tk 262.728 million were traded in the company. Saiham Textile Mills ranked second, with shares worth Tk 262.275 million changing hands. Envoy Textiles Limited ranked third, with shares worth Tk 137.145 million traded.
Other companies on the list of top-traded stocks included Apex Foods, Malek Spinning Mills, Sonali Life Insurance, Evince Textiles, Sharp Industries, SIPLC and The ACME Laboratories.
