DSE index falls but trading volume rises

Trading ended with a downward trend in the index at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s main stock market. However, the overall trading volume increased in monetary terms compared with the previous trading day, while share and unit prices of the majority of companies participating in trading declined.
According to DSE sources, the DSE Broad Index fell 33 points from the previous day to 5,860 points. The DSE Shariah Index fell 5 points to 1,180 points, while the DSE 30 Index fell 9 points to 2,191 points.
Among the companies and mutual funds traded throughout the day, prices increased for 88, declined for 263 and remained unchanged for 41. Shares and units worth Tk 11.4774 billion were traded on the DSE. The previous day, Tk 11.1149 billion worth of shares and units were traded.
On Thursday, Nitol Insurance, GBB Power, Tung Hai Knitting, Samata Leather, Prime Finance First Mutual Fund, Dhaka Insurance, Far East Finance and Investment, BD Autocars and Fast Finance Limited were among the top gainers.
