USTR Delegation to Visit Dhaka Soon

A delegation from the United States Trade Representative (USTR), the primary trade negotiating body of the U.S., will soon visit Bangladesh to strengthen trade dialogue between the two nations.
The delegation will be led by Brendan Lynch, the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for South and Central Asia. This was confirmed today, Tuesday, by the U.S. Ambassador to Dhaka, Brent T. Christensen, during a meeting with the Commerce Minister.
The Ambassador also expressed interest in learning about Bangladesh's new Import Policy Order. Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir stated that the ministry is currently drafting the order, after which it will be opened for feedback from the business community.
During the meeting, various aspects of strengthening trade, investment, and economic cooperation were discussed, and both sides expressed interest in further expanding trade, investment, and policy cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, and the Political-Economic Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh, Mr. Eric Gillan.
