Remittance inflows reached $456 million in the first four days of the current month. This means Bangladesh received an average of $114 million per day during this period.
According to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank, remittance inflows increased by 46.3 percent to $456 million in the first four days of May compared to the same period last year. During the same period last year, remittance inflows stood at $312 million.
Officials said the upward trend in remittance continues due to steady growth in foreign income and increased use of formal banking channels by expatriates.
From July of the current fiscal year to May 4, expatriates sent $29,789 million in remittances, compared to $24,849 million during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Analysts said the sustained growth in remittance inflows plays a crucial role in maintaining stability in the external sector, strengthening foreign exchange reserves, and enhancing overall macroeconomic resilience.
