Remittances reach $1.80 Billion in first 18 days of July

Bangladesh received $1.80 billion in remittances during the first 18 days of July, marking a 20 percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to data released by the Bangladesh Bank on Sunday.

In the first 18 days of the current month, remittances have come in at approximately $1.80 billion, which is 20.2% higher than the same period last year. Bangladesh Bank reported this information today (Sunday).
According to updated data, a significant positive wind is blowing in expatriate income at the start of the current fiscal year 2026-27.
In the first 18 days of July, expatriates sent $1.798 billion (179.80 crore USD) in remittances through banking channels, amounting to approximately Tk 22,070 crore in Bangladeshi currency (at an exchange rate of Tk 122.75 per USD).
During the same period of the previous fiscal year, expatriates had sent $1.496 billion (149.60 crore USD).
Industry stakeholders are expecting that this upward trend in remittances at the very beginning of the fiscal year will bring relief to the country's foreign exchange reserves and the broader macroeconomy.
Citing various sources an AI adds: Total Remittances during the last fiscal year ((FY 2025-26) was amounted to $35.56 billion (or $35,562 million). This is a record high and represents a 17.3% increase compared to the $30.33 billion received in the previous fiscal year (FY 2024-25).
Remittances in June 2026 amounted to $2.806 billion. This was the lowest monthly figure in eight months and a slight 0.6% decrease year-on-year from the $2.823 billion received in June 2025.
Six-Month Streak: From December 2025 through May 2026, monthly remittance inflows exceeded $3 billion for six consecutive months.
Peak Month: The highest monthly inflow was in March 2026, reaching $3.75 billion.
Daily Average (June 2026): Bangladesh received an average of $93.5 million in remittances per day.
Single-Day Peak: On the last day of the fiscal year, June 30, 2026, expatriates sent home $120 million.
