Banks resume ATM and online services

With the Q-Cash network system back online, ATM, card, POS, NPSB, e-commerce and QR services that had been suspended have resumed. Customers can now use these services normally to conduct transactions.
Bank Asia sent text messages to customers informing them that the services had been restored. The bank said its ATM, card, POS, NPSB, e-commerce and QR services are now fully operational.
Earlier, ATM, card, POS and various online services of 30 banks across the country had been suspended simultaneously for technological security upgrades and maintenance. The banks had informed customers that the services would remain unavailable from 9 p.m. on October 4 until noon on October 10.
The banks on the list were Agrani Bank, Bangladesh Commerce Bank, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Bank Asia, BASIC Bank, Bank Alfalah Bangladesh, Community Bank, First Security Islami Bank, ICB Islami Bank, IFIC Bank, Jamuna Bank, Janata Bank, Meghna Bank, Mercantile Bank, Midland Bank, Modhumoti Bank, National Bank, NCC Bank, NRB Commercial Bank, NRB Global Bank, Rupali Bank, Shahjalal Islami Bank, Shimanto Bank, Social Islami Bank, Sonali Bank, South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank, Trust Bank, Union Bank, Uttara Bank and Woori Bank Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday ordered the services to be restored quickly to protect customers’ interests and ensure continuity in financial transactions. At the same time, the management authority of the company operating the Q-Cash network was summoned. It was instructed to resume all card-related services, transaction authorization and other operations as soon as possible.
Within three days of Bangladesh Bank’s directive, ATM, card, POS, NPSB, e-commerce and QR services returned to normal.
