From Profit to Loss: Rupali Bank suffers Tk 641 crore loss in first six month

State-owned Rupali Bank PLC, listed on the stock market, has experienced a significant deterioration in its financial results for the first six months of the current fiscal year (January–June 2026). Compared to the profit of the same period last year, the bank has incurred a loss of approximately Tk 641 crore this year.
This information was revealed from the company's published Price Sensitive Information (PSI).
According to the data, the bank's earnings per share (EPS) for January–June 2026 stood at a negative Tk 13.13, with total losses amounting to Tk 640.57 crore. In contrast, during the same period in 2025, the bank had posted a profit of Tk 9.94 crore, translating to an EPS of Tk 0.20.
Thus, within one year, the bank's swing from profit to loss represents a net decline of Tk 650.51 crore, or approximately 6,544%.
For the second quarter (April–June) of the current year, the bank's EPS was a loss of Tk 5.01, with total losses of Tk 244.24 crore. In the same quarter of the previous year, the bank had earned a profit of Tk 3.36 crore, or EPS of Tk 0.07. This marks a decline of Tk 247.60 crore, or about 7,369%, in the second quarter.
As of June 30, 2026, the bank's net asset value per share (NAVPS) stood at Tk 22.43.
