A high-level meeting has been held to reopen closed state-owned industrial factories, expedite privatization efforts, and attract domestic and foreign investment to bring these factories back into operation.

The meeting was held on Thursday afternoon at the Cabinet Division conference room in the Secretariat, chaired by Prime Minister Tarek Rahman.

The Prime Minister's Press Wing stated that the meeting decided to take necessary steps to quickly reopen state-owned industrial factories that have been closed for a long time, cut bureaucratic red tape to accelerate activities, and attract private investment to these industries to resume production swiftly. The Prime Minister directed that this process be completed by 2026.

Additionally, instructions were given in the meeting for relevant agencies to take effective initiatives to ensure an investment-friendly environment.

Those present included Economic and Planning Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Industry Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Textiles and Jute Minister Md. Shariful Alam, and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury, among others.
