Top 45 officials from 25 US companies to arrive in Dhaka

the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Go, has lauded various initiatives taken by the BNP government over the past five months

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Bangladesh has seen democratic progress as well as stability.

These remarks were made by Mahdi Amin, Advisor to the Prime Minister and spokesperson for his office, during a briefing today (Saturday) after the US Special Envoy's meeting with the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Bangladesh has seen democratic progress alongside stability. A delegation of top officials from 25 US industrial and business enterprises is arriving in Dhaka at the end of next week. Additionally, Sergio Go has praised the various initiatives taken by the government over the past five months.

Mahdi Amin said this during a briefing after US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Go met with the Prime Minister at the PMO in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Saturday afternoon.

Washington will stand by Dhaka in this democratic journey. Referring to this, Mahdi Amin said, "As a first step towards increasing US investment in the coming days, around 45 top business leaders or senior officials from nearly 25 leading US industrial and business enterprises will be arriving in Bangladesh by the end of next week."

"They will hold a series of meetings with ministers and senior officials from various ministries and departments of Bangladesh. They will also have a meeting with the Prime Minister."

Earlier on Saturday morning, US Special Envoy Sergio Go met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister's Office. Outlining the topics of the special US envoy's meeting, Mahdi Amin said, "The United States has expressed strong confidence in the leadership of Bangladesh's elected Prime Minister. The US side has stated that stability has returned to Bangladesh under the Prime Minister's leadership, and a commendable democratic progression is underway. The policies adopted by the Prime Minister in the governance of the state over the past five months have been lauded."

Mahdi Amin said, "Discussions were held on how to further deepen the strong relationship between Bangladesh and the United States, how to move it forward economically, how to increase investment in the country, boost trade, and how US companies can play a role in job creation, and what kind of policy support the government can provide. There were also detailed discussions on how to increase exports and imports."

"The historic relationship between Bangladesh and the United States will move to a new dimension. Based on that, we will try to increase more US investment and business in the country. We believe that the United States, as a friendly state, will stand by Bangladesh in its democratic journey just as it has for a long time. We welcome the confidence they have shown in the Prime Minister's leadership."

Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon, Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Roni, and Assistant Press Secretary Nazmul Haque were present during the briefing.
