President meets delegation of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for forming a national committee comprising representatives of the Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian communities.

He said, "Such a committee can play an effective role in properly raising various issues in coordination with the government."

The President said this during a courtesy meeting with a delegation of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front at Bangabhaban on Monday (September 28) noon. The President's Press Wing provided this information.

During the meeting, the President called upon the delegation to work unitedly to ensure the rights and dignity of the people of the Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, and ethnic communities of Bangladesh.

He said, "People of all communities in this country have equal rights. People of all religions and communities, including Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and Muslims, live together here. We must build a harmonious Bangladesh by ensuring equal rights, dignity, and opportunities for all."

The President gratefully recalled the important participation and cooperation of the Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian communities in making the 13th National Parliamentary Election successful. Mentioning the nomination of a greater number of candidates from the Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian communities in reserved women's seats, he said, "The government is firmly committed to ensuring equal participation of people of all communities in the country's development and progress."

During the meeting, the delegation invited the President to visit the puja mandaps of Dhakeshwari and Ramna Kali Mandir during the upcoming Durga Puja. The President accepted the invitation and assured them of his presence.
