2 shot during police operation against attackers at house in Adabor

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 10 people in connection with an attack on a house in the Shyamoli Housing area of Adabor in Dhaka. The DMP said two “terrorists” were shot during the operation.
The DMP disclosed the information in a text message sent on Tuesday morning.
Earlier, at around 6:30 am on Saturday, a group of around 20 people armed with machetes, cleavers and pistols attacked an eight-storey house in Shyamoli Housing in Adabor in an attempt to take control of the property. The attack was captured by closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras. The footage later went widely viral on social media.
After the incident, the victims alleged that police did not immediately go to the scene after receiving information about the attack even though it took place near the police station.
Shortly after the attack, Monir Hossain, nephew of house owner Aminur Rahman Khan, told reporters that the attackers first opened the main gate of the house and told everyone to leave. When no one came out from inside, they began demanding money from outside and issuing threats. At one point, they started repeatedly striking the gate with cleavers and machetes.
He said the attackers vandalised the CCTV camera in front of the gate and broke the window glass. Later, they broke the glass of two more windows on the second floor with pieces of bricks. After the attack on the house, the tenants came downstairs and informed the police.
Monir Hossain claimed that the house had been occupied once after August 5, 2024. According to him, a man named Khorshed Alam took control of the house on August 17 of that year. Later, after filing a complaint with Adabor Police Station without receiving a resolution, they filed a case in court. On March 12, they regained possession of the house through the court.
