DNCC announces Tk 45.27 billion budget

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has announced a Tk 45.27 billion budget for the current fiscal year, giving priority to road and traffic infrastructure. The budget is Tk 15.42 billion lower than last year’s.
DNCC Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan announced the budget at around 4 pm on Thursday.
In the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, Tk 13.66 billion has been allocated for the road and traffic infrastructure sector. In addition, Tk 450 million has been allocated for canal development and waterlogging mitigation, Tk 9.65 billion for government and foreign-assisted projects, and Tk 615 million for welfare activities.
The budget has allocated Tk 2.94 billion for salaries and allowances of DNCC officials and employees in the new fiscal year. A total of Tk 5.11 billion has been allocated for waste management, while Tk 2.08 billion has been earmarked for mosquito control and the health sector. In addition, Dhaka North has allocated Tk 240 million for tree plantation and environmental improvement.
During the budget announcement, the city corporation said the Ministry of Local Government has separate allocations for the new wards. Therefore, DNCC has allocated only Tk 196.8 million for this sector in this year’s budget.
The budget projects total revenue earnings of Tk 25.31 billion from various sources, including road excavation, trade licenses, cattle markets, holding taxes and property transfer taxes.
During the budget announcement, DNCC Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan said Tk 40.82 billion of the proposed budget for the previous year had been implemented. He also reiterated the goal of recovering encroached canals in Dhaka North. In addition, he said the ‘Green Dhaka’ program would be implemented through tree plantation after making the city clean and tidy.
Other DNCC officials were present at the budget announcement event.
