The closure of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh following Houthi attacks has impacted thousands of Saudi Arabia-bound passengers departing from Dhaka. As of 6:00 PM today, Sunday, a total of 2,951 passengers across eight flights have faced severe travel disruptions.
The affected flights include two operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, one by US-Bangla Airlines, three by Saudia, and two by Riyadh Air. Passengers across all eight flights remain stranded due to the situation.
Kawsar Mahmud, Assistant Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Public Relations Division, confirmed the development.
Airline authorities have advised passengers scheduled on these flights not to report to the airport. They stated that updated flight schedules will be communicated once the situation is reassessed.
Earlier on Saturday, two Saudi-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights from Dhaka were canceled. The flight operations disruption stems directly from the temporary closure of Riyadh Airport.
