Rain, storms expected in Dhaka and 17 regions

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said Dhaka may experience rain or thunderstorms by noon and storms with speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour are expected to hit 17 regions of the country.
BMD confirmed the matter in the weather forecast for the six hours starting from 7 am Monday and added that sky over Dhaka may remain cloudy.
Winds may blow from the south or south-east at speeds of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour in Dhaka. The daytime temperature may decrease slightly.
At 6 am, the temperature in Dhaka was 27.8 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 89 percent. The minimum temperature is 26.4 degrees Celsius. In the last 24 hours, 5 mm of rain was recorded in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, meteorologist Hafizur Rahman said storms may occur in 17 regions of the country by the afternoon and rain or thunderstorms are expected.
According to the forecast for internal river ports from 5 am to 1 pm, temporary gusty or squally winds with rain or thunderstorms, moving at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour from the west or north-west, may sweep over the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet.
River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number 1.
