57 Fugitive Police Officers Face Dismissal After July Uprising

A total of 57 police officers who have been absconding since Aug. 5, 2024, are set to be dismissed.
As part of the process, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday issued dismissal notifications for three officers.
They are Mishu Biswas and Jewel Chakma of the 33rd BCS batch and Mahmudul Hasan of the 36th BCS batch.
The list includes Assistant Superintendent of Police Md. Habibullah Dalal, Assistant Superintendent of Police Md. Arifuzzaman, Additional Superintendent of Police Rubaiyat Zaman, Additional Superintendent of Police S. M. Jahangir Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajan Kumar Das, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Masudur Rahman Monir, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Rashidul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police Towhidul Islam, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Rowshanul Haque Soikat, Additional Superintendent of Police S. M. Shamim, Assistant Police Commissioner Md. Al Imran Hossain, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Imrul, Assistant Police Commissioner (DMP) Md. Golam Ruhani and Assistant Superintendent of Police Nahid Ferdous.
Others on the list are DIG AKM Ehsanullah, DIG Biplob Bijoy Talukder, DIG Tutul Chakraborty, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Shah Nur Alam Patwari, Superintendent of Police Md. Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, Superintendent of Police Jesmin Keka, former Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Nazmul Islam, former Additional DIG Proloy Kumar Joardar, Superintendent of Police Md. Abu Maruf Hossain, Superintendent of Police Ayesha Siddika, Additional Superintendent of Police Hasanuzzaman Molla, former DIG Syed Nurul Islam, former DIG Nure Alam Mina, former DIG Md. Anisur Rahman, former Additional Police Commissioner Mohammad Harun Ur Rashid, Additional DIG Mohammad Farid Uddin, former Superintendent of Police Md. Rahmat Ullah Chowdhury and Superintendent of Police Md. Tarek Bin Rashid.
Asked about the matter, Kazi Saiful Islam, additional secretary (Discipline) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, told Agamir Somoy, “At least 82 police cadre officers have been absconding since Aug. 5, 2024. A final decision has been made to dismiss them after completing due legal procedures against them. Initially, a list of 57 officers has been finalized. Of them, dismissal notifications for three officers were issued on Thursday. The rest will also be dismissed in phases.”
