6 Police officers dismissed from service, including DIG and SP

Six police officers convicted of crimes against humanity have been permanently dismissed from service. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued six separate notifications in this regard on Thursday (September 24).
The dismissed officers are: DIG Syed Nurul Islam, currently attached to the Rangpur Range DIG Office (former DIG, Dhaka Range); Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Asaduzzaman, attached to Sardah, Rajshahi (former SP, Dhaka); Additional Superintendent of Police Shah Alam Md. Akhtarul Islam, attached to the Sylhet In-Service Training Center (former Additional Deputy Commissioner, DMP); Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Imrul, attached to Cox's Bazar APBn (former Assistant Commissioner, DMP); Additional Superintendent of Police of Dhaka District Abdullahil Kafi; and Additional Superintendent of Police of Cox's Bazar APBn Shahidul Islam (former Additional Superintendent of Police, Dhaka District).
The notifications by the Home Ministry said that these six permanently dismissed officers had previously been suspended temporarily.
Among them, DIG Syed Nurul Islam was sentenced to life imprisonment by the International Crimes Tribunal-2 after being found guilty in a crimes against humanity case. Police Superintendent Md. Asaduzzaman, additional Police Superintendent Abdullahil Kafi, and additional Police Superintendent Shahidul Islam received the same sentence.
Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police Shah Alam Md. Akhtarul Islam was sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal-1. On the other hand, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Imrul was handed a 6-year prison sentence by the same court.
