EC sets 20 Aug for presidential election

Election Commission (EC) announced the schedule for the 23rd presidential election of the country, which is set to take place on 20 August.

Senior Secretary Akhter Ahmed confirmed the matter on Thursday.

The final date for submitting nomination papers for the presidency is 13 August. The scrutiny of the submitted nomination papers will occur on 16 August, and the deadline for the withdrawal of candidacy is 18 August.

The voting will take place on 20 August from 2 pm to 5 pm. According to the constitution, the president of the country is elected by the votes of the members of the parliament.

Earlier, Akhter said the parliament secretariat sent the voters’ list to the EC for presidential election.
