Child’s body recovered from Brahmaputra River 24 days after going missing

The body of Rohan, a child who went missing 24 days ago in Dewanganj of Jamalpur, was found in the Brahmaputra River. Police recovered the body on Thursday morning. The family said he died after drowning.
Seven-year-old Rohan was the only child of Monir Hossain of Bhangar village in Bahadurabad Union of the upazila. His uncle Ismail Hossain said Rohan went to bathe at Dafadar Ghat in the river near their home on August 24. He could not be found afterward. Local residents and a Fire Service diving team also failed to recover him.
He said a child’s body was seen floating in the river near Mondol Bazar in Chikajani Union of the upazila on Thursday morning. After hearing the news, the relatives went there. As the body had decomposed identification was made from the clothes. Later police from the local police station recovered the body.
Dewanganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shah Jahurul Hossain confirmed the incident and expressed condolences to Rohan’s family.
