Extra Monthly Charge on Prepaid Electricity Meters Withdrawn

The government has withdrawn the additional monthly charge on prepaid electricity meters in a move aimed at easing public hardship and providing financial relief to consumers.
On Wednesday afternoon, the information was shared n BNP media cell’s official Facebook page.
The post stated that in the first 100 days of the BNP government, the decision was implemented to eliminate the extra monthly charge on prepaid electricity meters to reduce public suffering and ensure financial relief for citizens.
The post also cited a press briefing by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing held on May 25 as the source of the information.
Earlier, on March 29, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said that the monthly rent or meter charge for prepaid electricity meters would be withdrawn.
