154 rounds of ammunition and knife seized from teacher’s house in Khulna

The arrested teacher

The Detective Branch (DB) of Khulna Metropolitan Police arrested a man named Golam Rasul Badsha during a raid in Khulna and seized 154 rounds of ammunition and a sharp knife.

He is a teacher in the vocational branch of Bangabasi School in the Khalishpur area of the city.

The raid was conducted at Golam Rasul Badsha’s house on Hossain Shah Road in North Deyana in the city at around 9:30 pm on Tuesday. During the operation, ammunition and a knife were recovered from a steel wardrobe in his bedroom.

Daulatpur Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Md. Moradul Islam said the Detective Branch conducted the raid based on a tip off. A case has been filed against Golam Rasul Badsha at Daulatpur Police Station in connection with the incident.

The DB police said the arrested Golam Rasul Badsha is the elder brother of Golam Rabbani Tipu, a former councilor of Ward No. 4 of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and a former Awami League leader.

After his arrest, Golam Rasul Badsha told police that he had a firearms license. However, he could not produce any documents regarding the ammunition. He claimed that his brother Golam Rabbani Tipu had left the ammunition behind before his death.

Golam Rabbani Tipu was the vice president of Khulna Metropolitan Swechhasebak League. On the night of January 9 last year, he was shot dead near the sidewalk in front of Hotel Sea Gull at Sugandha Point on Cox’s Bazar beach.

The following day, his brother-in-law Yunus Ali Sheikh filed a murder case against unidentified accused at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station.
